Origins and training:
Sarah Johnson trained at the Conservatoire de Bayonne: Choral Singing, Solfeggio, Theatre and... Harmony Horn. This choice of instrument hints from an early age at the original and singular character of the young composer who likes to lay her eyes where our gaze does not systematically stop.
Sarah moves at the age of 14 on the island of Mayotte, with her guitar, learned self-taught. She interprets her 1st composition in English with the choir of her high school during a tribute to the poet Aimé Césaire.
Back in the Basque Country, she obtains a law degree before fully devoting herself to music.
Artistic career:
In 2018, Sarah Johnson participates in the talent showcase "Chantons sous la Luna" (La Luna Negra - Bayonne) with her first French songs, which will open the doors to many café-theatres and festivals. She continues concerts and artistic collaborations in particular with Voix du Sud (Francis Cabrel) and sings as opening act for Christophe Maé at the Rencontres d'Astaffort, Labos and Répertoires.
Columnist in "Radio Kutzu" on Ici Pays Basque, she composes an original song every week for the guest of the show.
The health crisis marks a turning point in her life. She leaves, eager for discoveries, to live in Quebec, then in French Polynesia and New Zealand. This break deeply nourishes her writing and artistic vision.
After her travels, Sarah reunites with the stage with brand new compositions carried by the desire to transmit and share sincere and musical moments with her audience.
Sarah also leads songwriting workshops, including "Chantons sous les Pins". She accompanies her students in the expression of their creativity and the discovery of writing as a space for exchange, sensitivity and freedom.
